Activities and Athletics
Associated Student Body
Granada Hills Charter provides a broad educational experience beyond the classroom. We offer more than 60 clubs and activities that reflect the philosophy of a student-centered school. These organizations represent the most visible and accessible avenue to being connected on campus. Joining a student organization provides avenues to meeting new people, gaining leadership skills, and increasing educational and extracurricular interests.
The Associated Student Body (ASB) is the student government on the GHC campus and it is our job to serve and represent the student body to the best of our ability. Please feel free to explore this page for more information. Participation in these extracurricular activities are a privilege, therefore code of conduct and eligibility requirements are in place to make sure the focus remains centered on ours students' education. Remember, your commitment signifies your respect for yourself, for others, and for our school.
Lead, Plan, Serve, Innovate
Student Leadership is composed of different students from all over campus with one main job: to “Lead, Plan, Serve, and Innovate” new ideas to make the school year the best it can be! We dedicate our 4th period class to organizing and planning school events within our separate committees. Student leaders are chosen based on their individual talents and are given the opportunity to develop their skills throughout the year. The diversity in the class allows for a multitude of creative and new ideas in order to produce exciting activities for the student body!
Leadership Opportunities
Student Leadership gives students the opportunity to lead the student body in different ways. We celebrate the uniqueness of every individual and each leader is given the chance to develop their own skills through different experiences. Leaders are what shape the student body by coming up with innovative and new ideas. We work towards success by gathering the opinions of the student body. Each class consists of one President and Vice President, with a few delegates to represent their class. Each class hosts their own student council where they have the chance to lead and take in the opinions of their classmates. Each council is responsible for fundraising for their senior year. Besides that, they create apparel for the class, along with on and off-campus fundraisers and activities that their class can enjoy. For more information on our class representatives, please check out the ASB representatives page to the right.
Event Planning
Each event hosted by Student Leadership requires hours of planning to make sure that every detail is perfected to the best of their ability. Each is led by the students, who work hard with their committees to put together the perfect events for their peers. For all events, the student leaders communicate with school administrators and event planners, as well as other student groups on campus to ensure its success. In every committee the co-chairs, overseers, and committee members work together to set deadlines which help the committee stay on track of their work and make sure all the details are taken care of.
Community Service
As the student leaders on campus, our main priority is to make sure the students' voices are being heard. We serve the students by bringing attention to issues on our campus to administration and advocating for change whenever possible. Every Student Leadership officer is the student representative for the five standing committees: Governing Board, Student Services, Operations, Curriculum and Instruction, and Human Resources. Each committee covers a different aspect of student life and meets once a month with department representatives and staff to discuss that month's agenda. Alongside the officers, every delegate also attends one of the five committee meetings. Students outside of the Student Leadership class have the ability to make proposals during the monthly meetings. A proposal is the formal process to change current student or school policies to better student life. For instance, during class, students brainstorm and research justifications for proposals that will benefit the lives and education of the student body as well as the campus as a whole and present these options at the monthly meetings. This process is essential in best representing and serving the students on campus. For more information on how to submit a proposal to a committee, please contact a student in the Student Leadership class.
Innovative projects
Student Leadership provides an outlet for its students to create engaging projects and bring in new creative ideas for school activities. We are constantly proposing new opportunities to enhance the quality of education by involving students outside of the classroom that build school spirit, citizenship, and self-esteem. Through school events, such as Spirit week and Homecoming, Student Leadership works very hard to make them successful and we cherish the feedback of our students, staff/faculty, parents, and administrators to improve upon them. Therefore, Student Leadership never repeats the activities and events the same way. Our student leaders add new features that make all the activities unique and interesting every time.

Interact Club
This club brings together students of all backgrounds to develop leadership skills through creative, inter-generational community service. Interact clubs annually undertake two projects: one benefiting their local community and another promoting international understanding and service. Each project will be selected by Interact members with guidance and mentorship from their sponsor, the Rotary Club of Granada Hills, which is one of the oldest and most respected service organizations in this community. Interact members will have the opportunity to get involved in World Interact Week, Interact Video Awards, Rotary Youth Day at the United Nations, Global Youth Service Day, and Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA). Members can earn service hours, receive college and performing arts scholarship opportunities, and make lasting friendships at home and abroad.

National Societies
Students who participate in extracurricular activities will likely see an improvement in their academic and life skills, including discipline, goal-setting, teamwork, accountability, and responsibility. They will also find themselves better prepared for post-secondary education.
California Scholarship Federation (CSF) and National Honor Society (NHS)
Both of these honors societies promote scholarship and service among high school students and each has specific application requirements detailed on the attached applications; only 10th, 11th and 12th grade students are eligible for admission. In addition to maintaining a high academic record, students are expected to perform community service projects both in school and outside of school.
Students should download and complete the application for the honor society they wish to join (students may join either or both honor societies). Turn in the completed application(s) to Ms. Foster in B-13 during lunch by the last Friday of the first month of each semester (August and January). No late applications may be accepted; students who miss the deadline will need to wait until the next semester to apply. Attach a copy of the previous semester's report card to the application.
Each club has a $5.00 dues per semester which will be collected by the treasurer during the first month of each semester.
Officers are voted on by the members by the third meeting of the fall semester. Officer responsibilities will be explained by the faculty sponsor at the first meeting of the school year.
A list of eligible classes for the CSF applications, as well as the applications for both CSF and NHS, may be found below.
