iGranada for High School Students
Student Experience
The iGranada high school program is designed to provide students with the same rigor and support as our in-person high school campus but with a high degree of flexibility.
Students are provided a full curriculum, which includes:
- Full-year courses in English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Physical Education/Health, World Languages, and a wide variety of electives.
- Students who wish to take a course that is not offered online but is offered on the in-person campus may do so; up to two courses each year
Students are required to log on and engage in their curriculum for a minimum of four hours every day and to check in with their advisor on a weekly basis. Additionally, students are required to come onto campus at least one day every two weeks, for at least 4 hours, for in-person support as well as collaborative instruction.
Early College
iGranada is proud to be part of a select group of high schools in California to offer an Early College. Students have the ability to integrate college courses into their regular schedule starting in Grade 9 and, through regular college coursework along with rigorous high school courses, can complete more than a year’s worth of college before they graduate from high school. Students in this option can also engage in high quality, industry recognized certifications.
Certifications
iGranada offers students unique certification opportunities that embody our desire to prepare students equally for both college and career success.
We want to foster student passion toward concrete career objectives in athletics, business, and computing and digital technologies. We accomplish this through partnerships with California Lutheran University, California State University at Dominguez Hills, and the United States Artificial Intelligence Institute to offer a variety of certifications that allow students to earn career-preparation skills and learn more about potential careers that align to their passions.
Sports and Athletics
We are the premiere program for preparation for a career in Sports and Athletics! In addition to a flexible curriculum that allows athletes the ability to make training a priority, we also offer unique certifications that explore a wide variety of careers beyond being a player or coach.

Summit Sessions
As a hybrid program, it is important that our students attend in-person learning sessions where they are able to socialize with friends, collaborate on assignments, and get in-person support from our staff.
We accomplish this by inviting our high school students onto campus one day each week for a Summit Session: a full day program that includes two hours of structured collaboration, two hours of direct instruction, and two hours of dedicated time to work on coursework and meet with their advisor.
Students are invited to attend these sessions each week with their grade-level cohort:
- Monday = Grade 9
- Wednesday = Grade 11
- Thursday = Grade 12
- Friday = Grade 10
FAQ
General Program
Can I come on campus any day or are there specific days when students are allowed on campus?
Our iGranada classrooms are open from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. every school day. Students are welcome to attend any day or even everyday. We specifically invite students onto campus in the grade-level cohorts one day each week. We call these Summit Sessions and they are carefully designed to support students in their grade-specific coursework.
Can I participate in clubs or other extra curricular activities?
Yes! As an iGranada student, you have access to all of the clubs and extracurricular activities offered on the high school campus. We have iGranada students in all of our music programs, in theatre, robotics, Model United Nations, and many clubs.
Do students who graduate from iGranada get accepted into highly selective colleges?
iGranada students have been accepted to many highly selective colleges and universities including all of the UC campuses, USC, Loyola Marymount, University of Pennsylvania, Spelman College, Northwestern University, and Dartmouth.
I am an athlete. Can I still play on a team for GHC if I am an iGranada student?
Yes! iGranada students have the same access to try out for athletic teams as all other GHC students. For example, we have had (and in many cases, still have) football, soccer, baseball, softball, and volleyball players, as well as cheerleaders in our program.
My child will be in middle school next year. Can they apply for iGranada?
Unfortunately, iGranada is a high school program, and we do not currently enroll middle school students from outside the GHC community into iGranada.
What about Homecoming, Prom, and Graduation?
iGranada students attend the same dances, senior activities, and graduation as the rest of the GHC students.

What Certification Programs do you offer?
iGranada has developed unique partnerships to allow us to offer a range of certifications to meet student needs today. These include:
- Sports Management, in partnership with California Lutheran University
- Sports Medicine, in partnership with Cal State Dominguez Hills
- Artificial Intelligence, in partnership with the US Artificial Intelligence Institute
- CyberSecurity, in partnership with the US Artificial Intelligence Institute
We are continuously working with our educational partners to design and offer new, innovative certifications for iGranada students.
Are there other certifications offered through iGranada?
Yes, through our partnership with Los Angeles Pierce College, iGranada students have access to many of their certifications, including: Cloud Computing, Networking Technology, Biotechnology Lab Assistant, and a Pre-Veterinary pathway.
How many classes do I have to take to complete a certification through iGranada?
Almost all of our certification programs are designed to include two courses that are taught over two semesters.
Can I get college credit for completing a certification?
In most cases, yes. Most of our certifications are offered in partnership with California Lutheran University and California State University, Dominguez Hills. These programs are composed of two college courses. Students should earn three units for completing each course.
I am a student at the main GHC campus. Can I enroll in the certification programs at iGranada?
Unfortunately, no. The certifications offered through iGranada are only open to students who are fully enrolled in iGranada.
If I am an Early College student, can I still do a certification program?
Yes! Early college students can opt to enroll in a certification program during grades 11 and 12, and enroll in fewer college units at LA Pierce College.
Early College Program
Don’t all high school students get the chance to take college classes at a community college? What is different about the Early College?
All GHC students have access to some college classes through dual enrollment and can add up to six of these classes to their high school transcripts. Early College students, though, have college classes integrated into their schedule every semester and use college classes to satisfy some of their high school graduation requirements. In this way, they are able to access more college classes and complete up to two years of college when they graduate from high school.
If I am in the Early College, could I complete an Associate Degree?
Since students have greater access to college classes, the average student who starts the Early College in 9th or 10th grade will be able to complete at least a year’s worth of college. If students want to add additional classes, including taking classes during summer sessions, it is possible for them to complete an associate degree when they graduate from high school.
I am going into Grade 11. Is it too late to apply to be in the Early College program next year?
No! In the 2026-2027 school year, we will be accepting applications for students who want to enroll in the Early College in grades 9, 10, and 11.
What is the difference between Dual Enrollment and Concurrent Enrollment?
Dual enrollment courses are college courses that are predetermined by the college and high school and have only high school students enrolled in them. Concurrent enrollment is when high school students take a college course that is open to any college student to enroll in. Our Early College primarily uses dual enrollment courses in Grades 9 and 10 and concurrent enrollment in Grades 11 and 12.
What if my student wants to take a class on the campus at LA Pierce College? Is there a bus from iGranada?
Early college students in grades 11 and 12 will have broad access to college courses through concurrent enrollment and may select to enroll in classes that are offered in-person at the LA Pierce College Campus. In those cases, families will be responsible for arranging transportation to and from the college campus. Att GHC students can receive a Transit Access Pass (TAP) for free from the Office of Instruction. This gives them full access to all local transit services (bus and rail) to support their commute to and from GHC or LA Pierce College.
How many college units can I enroll in each semester in the Early College program?
The number of units a student can enroll in depends on their grade level.
- Grade 9 students will be enrolled in 4 units each semester
- Grade 10 students will enroll in 7 units in the fall and 6-8 units in the spring
- Students in grades 11 and 12 will be able to enroll in up to 11 units each semester, depending on their goals and their prior success with college classes
Is there a separate application for the Early College program at iGranada?
No. Students who wish to be in the Early College should enroll in iGranada. Once the enrollment is finalized, students meet with their counselor and can choose the Early College as their program of study.
Can students enroll in the Early College if they are students at the main high school campus?
No, the Early College option is only available to students who are enrolled fully in iGranada independent study.
