Grades TK-8

Granada Hills Charter (GHC) is a fully accredited International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, offering all three Primary Years (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and Diploma Programmes. We believe that education must extend beyond the classroom and inspire students to use their knowledge and skills to contribute to the greater global community. Our school has a clear vision for education in the 21st century, focusing on teaching students to think critically, make informed decisions, collaborate effectively with others, and be flexible to meet the needs of a rapidly changing world

Our educational model on the Devonshire Campus combines the IB PYP and IB MYP frameworks with the Common Core State Standards, the Next Generation Science Standards, and the CA Computer Science Standards. In addition, all students will participate in world language instruction from an early age and engage in opportunities for community service.

• Computer Science: Our students will learn how computers work - an early introduction to logical thinking - beginning in Kindergarten. We will be among the first schools to adopt the new California TK-12 computer science standards to prepare our students for the careers of the future.
   
• Community Service: In an inquiry-based instructional model, GHC students will thrive in project-based learning that requires real-world problem solving. Our students will be guided to conduct meaningful, mission-driven projects that are purposeful and teach them the value of giving back to society.
   
• World Languages: As one of the only schools in the area that offers early language classes, Granada Hills Charter students will begin taking language classes in second grade. Second language fluency prepares students for a competitive workforce and gives them the ability to connect with people across the globe.

This foundation will not only provide a seamless transition into the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (DP), it will provide the necessary knowledge and skills required for the AP Capstone Program or any of the rigorous programs offered by GHC's high school program.

Granada Hills Charter Middle School, in collaboration with the GHC High School athletic teams, offers sports clinics for GHC students in Grades 6 through 8. 

• Parents/guardians may register their student(s) for one of the offered clinics. 
• Spots per clinic date are limited in group size; registrants will be chosen on a first come, first serve basis.
• To be eligible, participants may not have accumulated any U's, Fails, or redirections.

Students have the opportunity to learn basic skills and drills. The clinics will be instructed by the high school student-athletes under the supervision of the high school coach.
