This honor places us among the top schools in fostering a college-ready culture through Advanced Placement (AP) courses.

Granada Hills Charter (GHC) is thrilled to announce that our high school program has been awarded Gold recognition on the 2024 AP School Honor Roll. This honor places us among the top schools in fostering a college-ready culture through Advanced Placement (AP) courses. Additionally, we are proud to receive the AP Access Award for our commitment to accessibility, ensuring that all students have equal access to AP opportunities.

What Does Gold Recognition Mean?

Achieving Gold status is a testament to our dedication to college readiness, affordability, and student success. The AP School Honor Roll categorizes schools based on three main areas:

  1. College Culture: 70% of our graduating class participated in at least one AP course during high school.
  2. College Credit: 55% of our students scored a 3 or higher on an AP exam, qualifying for college credit.
  3. College Optimization: 26% of our students took five or more AP exams, enhancing their college readiness and application competitiveness.

These achievements demonstrate our commitment to providing students with an academic foundation that supports their college goals.

Highlighting Accessibility: The AP Access Award

This year, we were also recognized with the AP Access Award. This award celebrates schools that prioritize accessibility, ensuring that the percentage of underrepresented and low-income students enrolled in AP courses matches or exceeds the school’s overall demographics. Our commitment to inclusivity aligns with our belief in equal opportunities for all students to excel.

Next Steps Toward Platinum Recognition

With only a 10% gap to close in college culture metrics, our next goal is to achieve Platinum recognition. This level signifies the highest achievement on the AP School Honor Roll and aligns with our vision to continually enhance AP access, affordability, and achievement for every student.

Join Us in Celebrating!

To celebrate this milestone, we will be sharing this news across multiple platforms. Be sure to stay tuned for stories, student spotlights, and resources for AP students as we continue our journey toward excellence. We encourage everyone to engage with us on social media and use the College Board-provided toolkits to spread the word!

Congratulations to all our students, teachers, and families for making this achievement possible. We are excited to see what the future holds as we work toward Platinum status!
