Granada Hills Charter Student, Catelyn Lee, Named Distinguished Young Woman of Los Angeles County, Class of 2026
Catelyn Lee was among those named to the Class of 2026, Distinguished Young Women of Los Angeles County, and will advance to the state level at the Distinguished Young Women of California.
On March 22, 2025, high school junior girls from across Los Angeles County joined together for the Distinguished Young Women of Los Angeles County program. Twenty-two (22) participants competed for college scholarships and the opportunity to represent Los Angeles County for the Class of 2026.
Participants were evaluated by a panel of five judges in the following categories: Scholastics, Interview, Talent, Fitness, and Self-Expression. Of the twenty-two (22) young women who participated in the program, two (2) represented Granada Hills Charter: Catelyn Lee and Venice Hernandez.
Catelyn Lee was among those named a Distinguished Young Woman of Los Angeles County for the Class of 2026, and plans to attend the University of Southern California (USC) after graduation.
Selected as a Distinguished Young Woman of Los Angeles County, Catelyn will advance to the state level at the Distinguished Young Women of California program in July 2025, where she will join with other representatives from across the state in competing for additional scholarships and the opportunity to represent the state as the Distinguished Young Woman of California.
Venice Hernandez hopes to pursue a career as a public health manager and plans to study at UCLA, USC, Scripps College, or Duke University.
The Distinguished Young Women of Los Angeles County for the Class of 2025 co-hosted this event, which included a GHC senior, Savanna Kimball, who most recently coordinated the Granada Hills Youth Club's TEDx event on GHC's Zelzah Campus.
