Everything families need to know for GHC's Summer Transition Academy

Everything families need to know for GHC's Summer Transition Academy

As we prepare to welcome our newest Highlanders, here is everything families need to know about Summer Transition Academy (STA).

STA is Required

Summer Transition Academy (STA) is a graduation requirement for all Granada Hills Charter (GHC) students. Completion of STA is required to participate in the GHC graduation ceremony and receive a GHC high school diploma.

Incoming students are automatically enrolled once registration is complete. Students earn elective credit upon successful completion of STA.

Attendance Matters

Attendance is required every day of STA. Students build essential academic, technology, and campus-readiness skills while connecting with teachers, staff, and classmates before the school year begins.

  • Attendance is required for the entire first and last days of STA.
  • Students who are absent on the first day will be dropped and will receive an ATF for the program. Students who are absent on the final day will receive an academic fail in their STA classes.
  • Students who miss more than 4 hours total will receive an Attendance Fail (ATF) on their transcripts. Students who receive an academic fail or ATF must complete STA the following summer.

Families should make every effort to avoid absences during STA.

June 25-27: Chromebook Pickup & Student Accounts

Home Access Center (HAC)

HAC is the official system for:

  • Grades

  • Attendance
  • Detentions
  • State assessment scores
  • Student schedules will be available in HAC on August 12 — the day before the first day of school.
