Application Instructions

This year, ALL TK-12 applicants interested in attending GHC and regardless of their home address must submit an application.

The lottery application window for the 2024-25 school year will open on October 2 at 9:00 a.m. and close on December 1 at 3:00 p.m.

Lottery Drawing

Our virtual lottery drawing for the 2024-25 school year will be held on January 4, 2024. The time for the TK-8 Program drawing will start at 9:00 a.m. and the drawing for the High School Program with start at 12:00 p.m. The lottery drawing will be held online via live stream.

All Grades TK-12

TK-12 applicants interested in attending GHC and regardless of their home address must submit an application. Although enrollment preferences per our charter petition are available (see below), a lottery for admission will be utilized if there are more applicants than available space.

Universal Transitional Kindergarten Age Eligibility: A child who will have their fourth (4) birthday on/by September 1 of the school year and who will have their fifth (5) birthday between September 2 through September 1 of the following year.

Please note that even though there is a preference for applicants who reside in the pre-charter attendance boundary, an application is required by everyone.

Please check the map to confirm that you live in the pre-charter boundary. You can also go onto the Resident School Identifier. If you are on the border and need clarification, please reach out to checkmyaddress@ghctk12.com and provide your address.

Post Lottery

If your lottery application is not received by December 1 at 3:00 p.m., your application will be considered post lottery. Post lottery applicants will not be included in the January 4 lottery drawing. Late applicants will be placed at the end of the waiting list after the drawing. They will be placed in the order of submission.

Grades TK-8 Program Preferences
  1. Siblings of a current GHC student

  2. Students who reside in the LAUSD attendance boundary

  3. Students who reside in the Andasol Elementary School attendance boundary 

  4. Students who reside outside the LAUSD attendance boundary

Note: There is no preference for TK-8 students who reside in the pre-charter attendance boundary.

Grades 9-12 Program Preferences
  1. Students who reside in the pre-charter attendance boundary

  2. Siblings of a current GHC student

  3. Students who reside in the LAUSD attendance boundary

  4. Students who reside outside the LAUSD attendance boundary

There are a limited number of spaces available. If the number of applicants exceeds the number of available spaces, a random selection process (i.e. lottery drawing) will be held. Only one (1) entry per student is allowed. The applicant will be disqualified if more than one application is submitted, or if falsified or incorrect information is provided.

Siblings

An enrollment application must be submitted for each sibling. Applicants with a sibling graduating in June 2024 are not eligible for a sibling preference.

Late Entries

Applications may be submitted after the December 1 deadline and will be considered after the scheduled January drawing. At that time, late applications will be placed on another, late application waitlist in the order they are received. Applicants on the late application waitlist will be contacted after the original waitlist for those who applied on time has been exhausted. 

Admitted and Waitlist

From the January drawing, a list will be created of those students who will be offered admission and those who will be on a waitlist. Students who are being offered admission will be notified approximately one (1) to two (2) weeks after the drawing. Students on the waitlist will be contacted by email as openings become available.

This is especially important for those who are part of high-risk or vulnerable populations, or individuals with family members in these groups.
