Celebrating GHC Counselors During National School Counseling Week

Celebrating GHC Counselors During National School Counseling Week
Gina Corpus

"National School Counseling Week 2023 (#NSCW23) is Feb. 6-10, 2023, to focus public attention on the unique contribution of school counselors within U.S. school systems. National School Counseling Week, sponsored by ASCA, highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career. National School Counseling Week is always celebrated the first full week in February.

The 2023 theme is School Counselors: Helping Students Dream Big." (schoolcounselor.org)

This week, GHC joined NSCW and The American School Counselor Association (ASCA) in celebrating our dedicated team of counselors. Enjoy the week's shoutout via the photo essay below:

I help students dream big by... "Reminding them that there are many paths to choose from." Academic Counselor Ms. Bedoyan encourages students to trust themselves, "Don't be afraid to change your route."

Students succeed when administrators, teachers, school counselors, and other mental health professionals collaborate.

Counselors like Ms. Chalker, Mr. Hankinson, and Ms. Lee provide students with academic, college, career, and social-emotional development. Thank you for all you do for our students, families, and community!

"My students help me dream big by..."
• Ms. Jimenez, "...giving me hope in future generations and their desire to create a better world!"
• Ms. Llamas , "...being a source of inspiration."
• Ms. Tahi, "... keeping me motivated to learn new things about my students."

School counselors like Ms. Jimenez, Ms. Llamas, and Ms. Tahi excel in providing students with academic and social career development. Taking their time to sit down and listen to their students. This week, we celebrate all school counselors.

"My school helps students dream big by..."

Ms. Bernal, "...encouraging them to be open-minded, strive to be their best selves, be present, be kind, accept change, ask questions, and embrace that knowledge is growth."

Ms. Woodburn, "...providing a support system."

We join ASCA in honoring the contributions of school counselors.

"My dream for school counseling is to inspire students to achieve their dreams," wrote Administrative Director, Counseling, Ms. Corpus.

What a great way to conclude National School Counseling Week 2023! We are grateful for all the amazing counselors (with superpowers) at GHC. 📚🎉
