Impressive CyberPatriots Secure Networks from "Hackers" in the Nation's Largest Cyber Defense Competition

GHC's CyberPatriots team is participating in the largest cyber defense competition in the nation! This prestigious event is a great opportunity for our CyberPatriots to step up and show their knowledge, skills, and passion for cybersecurity. Not only will this competition give them an impressive addition to their resumes and college applications, but it will also challenge them to think critically about defending computer systems from attacks in real-world scenarios. Whether the teams walk away victorious or not, there is a privilege knowing just how hard they have worked throughout this year's preparation process.

The CyberPatriots teams at GHC have been active since 2017. This year, the teams have twenty-two members with a 500% increase in female membership since last year. From securing operating systems like Windows and Linux to creating computer networks, they use their computer science knowledge and good cybersecurity practices to fight against potential hackers. The teams are committed to creating a positive environment to learn about cybersecurity against other teams nationwide. They are competing in the nation's largest cyber defense competition. The competition places high school and middle school students in charge of securing virtual networks. Two of CyberPatriots' teams were in the top 50 and 100 out of over 3,000 high school teams in the state. Now, they are preparing to compete in semifinal competitions scheduled for later this month.

Let us wish them luck!
