Summer Meals Program

Beginning Monday, June 10, 2024, Granada Hills Charter will be offering breakfast and lunch at its Zelzah Campus, located at 10535 Zelzah Ave, to all community members under the age of 18. The cafeteria can be accessed through the side gate by the school's main entrance. Breakfast will be served between 9:00-9:30 a.m. and lunch will be served between 11:00-11:30 a.m. This program will conclude on Friday, July 19, 2024.

Universal Meals Program

California’s continued implementation of the Universal Meals Program for the 2023-24 school year makes free meal access available to all students.

This program builds upon the foundations of the federal National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and School Breakfast Program (SBP), and it brings many benefits to our entire school community. Under this program, every student attending public school districts, county offices of education, and charter schools is eligible to receive two free meals each day—breakfast and lunch. Yes, that means all students, regardless of their eligibility for free or reduced-price meals, can enjoy nutritious meals at no cost. However, Meal Applications are still a requirement for all families. Granada Hills Charter (GHC) asks all families to complete this form and ensure continued funding to support all students because the benefits of the California Universal Meals Program don't stop at meal access.

S-EBT 2024 Benefits Issuance and Timeline

Eligible children will receive a SUN Bucks card with $120 for use over the summer period, which is June 1 through August 31. Funds are subject to expungement four months (122 days) after benefits are made available. Funds will be mailed to the mailing address in the California Pupil Achievement Data System (CALPADS), or the Statewide Automated Welfare System for children that are identified eligible through enrollment in CalFresh, CalWORKs, or Medi-Cal.

The tentative benefit issuance timeline is as follows:

  • Phase 1—Public school students determined eligible through CALPADS or public assistance programs on or before March 29, 2024, and private school children determined eligible as of April 16, 2024. Households will begin receiving benefits mid-June through August 31, 2024.
  • Phase 2—Students newly identified as eligible from March 30, 2024, through August 31, 2024. Households will receive benefits September through November 2024.
